On August 30th, 2024, we hosted a successful workshop on our "Tutorials in Climate Change" at the World Conference on Physics Education in Krakow. Around 40 researchers and educators participated, engaging with the materials and sparking lively discussions on teaching strategies. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with participants providing valuable insights for future improvements.
As part of a climate education symposium, we also gave a talk on the implementation of the tutorials with pre-service teachers. This talk focused on students’ knowledge gains and the impact of conceptual understanding on the intention and the willingness to teach climate change, framed within the theory of planned behaviour. The discussions emphasized how a solid grasp of climate science can shape educators' confidence in addressing this critical topic in their classrooms.
Overall, the workshop and talk strengthened our commitment to advancing climate change education. We look forward to applying the feedback and continuing these important conversations.
